i did have the good idea to get us a late check-out, so we got to sleep in a bit before getting back on the road. this is just a driving day, our one day in the whole tour where we don’t have a show. the plan is to make it as far as we can, and hopefully reach toledo.

the breakfast gods were smiling on us, we almost ended up at a friendly’s, but it was full of screaming kids and there was a wait and we decided to turn back and check out a cafe we’d passed, and it turned out pretty great. we had tasty paninis and wraps, and it was totally the way to go.

anyway, the weather isn’t quite so great today either. it’s super-windy and snowing on and off, luckily the roads are relatively straight/flat. i sure am glad i’m not doing the driving though.

(later)
so, we drove and drove and drove, and various people took turns ipod DJing. we eventually made it all the way through Pennsylvania and decided to stop in Youngstown, Ohio for dinner. Problem was, it was 7:30 on a sunday night, so everything seemed to be closed. we didn’t really want to resort to a mcdonald’s, but luckily, the dinner gods were smiling upon us too, and lo and behold, we found a local italian place called rotelli’s, which was pretty tasty for on-the-road food. we drove for a bit more after dinner, and called it a night in the funnily-named town of streetsboro. it was our one night off of the tour, and we took a trip to the only place in town that seemed open at that hour: a 24-hour wal-mart across the street. it was brand new, so it was still relatively clean and not terribly depressing. there was an amazingly cute puppy in the entry, which filled me with glee.

then we returned to our hotel rooms and internetted and i decided it would not be a bad idea to get a good night’s sleep.
