Sunday, August 26

I woke up on the early side, and had some tea and a little meeting by the pool with Jeff before it was time for us to check out. Gordon strategically re-packed the car, and then we headed back across the street to the mall because I wanted to return one of my purchases. Oh yeah, and spend several more hours shopping. Ha ha. It was awesome because this mall had a skating rink! I would have been into it, except that my feet were very unhappy and blister-y after several nights of jumping around in cute shoes. So alas, Gordon was the only one who skated, and the rest of us cheered him on. It was glorious.

Afterwards, we went back into town for some lunch, and ended up at a Macaroni Grill. This was probably a stupid idea, but it seemed neutral enough for us all to agree on. I felt very ill after my meal but I did at least have a tasty drink. We had originally planned to check out Mt. St. Helens on the way back, but were running pretty short on time at this point, since Jeff had called to warn us about another big traffic jam on the way back, so we decided to head straight to the airport. We listened to The Police and I made the monumental effort of staying awake in the car so that I might be able to sleep on the plane later. We ate candy. We ended up making it to the airport pretty early after all. Gordon dropped us off. I got a little sad after saying goodbye to him. He is one of the most awesome people in the world and I don’t get to see him nearly often enough.

Anyway, Sean, Alex, and I had some time to kill in the airport. We were looking for a place to grab some food when I saw a sign for the “Tequileria”… Sean was, needless to say, pretty excited about such a place. We went and got us some margaritas. Their menu didn’t really have so much on it, and I wasn’t super-hungry, but figured I should get something to eat while I had the opportunity. I ordered a jicama salad, figuring it would be some sort of regular salad with bits of shredded, or maybe diced jicama. This is what I ended up with:

Note: that pink stuff in the little container is SALT.

The huge slabs of jicama were a bit disconcerting, although after eating pretty bad-for-me food for the past few days, I was actually pretty okay with massive quantities of crunchy vegetables. I guess a little salad dressing might have been an improvement, but I was a trooper and made my way through at least 2/3 of it.

Then it was time to get on our redeye. It was pretty turbulent, and I did not sleep well. But then we got home and there was a puppy waiting, and it was the greatest thing in the world.
The end.
