Sunday, October 31

We had a nice slow morning, and then took off for Reno. I hadn't really considered that we'd be driving thru mountains and stuff. It got really cold, and then all of a sudden, I looked out the window and realized that there was SNOW on the ground. Eeek. It wasn't quite that bad in Reno, but it was still a lot more chilly than I'd anticipated.

So we found the club, and it was this swanky-looking little place. We met up with the Duke's friend Jen, and went to this weird little restaurant down the street that had healthy food, not in an entirely hippy-dippy way or anything, but you could tell they were sorta leaning in that direction. Which is not a bad thing at all, and a nice change of pace especially when one is on tour and eating Taco Bell because that's your most healthy option.

Anyway, we went back to the club, and the Duke had to MacGyver some sorta sound system since all their cables had been swiped, but it turned out OK. I should mention the delicious chocolate raspberry martinis made by the bartender who was dressed as Jennifer Beals. The show was not the best-attended ever, since folks had already done 3 days of Halloween partying, but the folks who were there looked like this:

i.e. basically insane

so that really made up for it. Hot times.

And speaking of hot times, after our show, Jen took us out to experience some of the less wholesome aspects of Reno nightlife. We spent about 10 minutes at "Spice House" before getting traumatized and having to flee. Then we ended up at a pool hall. Turns out that I am fantastically bad at pool, but so was Jen, so our game lasted a really long time.

Sean was starting to get kinda cocky.

These were not even the scariest people we met that night.

After the pool game was finally over we said goodnight and headed to our hotel, which was pretty swanky (and since hotels are so cheap there, we ended up paying less than when we stayed at the Dagobah Inn, go figure). There was some viewing of our new SNL best-of DVDs, and then sleepytime.
